Kwa Maritane is located in the Pilanesberg National Park, on the slopes of a 2-billion-year-old volcano, and is home to Africa’s big five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino). Situated in the ecologically rich transition zone between the Kalahari and the Lowveld, this vast area promises thrilling big game viewing!
When to view: From a game viewing perspective, animals are around throughout the year with peak viewing over the winter months from around May to October. There are the usual suspects during the day. You can catch the sunrise or sunset “rush” before waiting for the night time sightings when some of the rare animals make an appearance.
